The Fosmon charger starts off in "retracted" mode, i.e. the connecting wire is cured up within the body of the charger. That makes it ideal for tucking it into a glove box or other storage area in a vehicle. In "connected" mode, the connecting wire is long enough to be useful, but not so long that it is intrusive.

I do not like in-car chargers (mobile 'phones, sat. nav. devices, etc.) that come with a curled-up cord, as I find that the tension in the cord means that the device is liable to leap around unpredictably. Thus, my preference is always for a charger with a "flat" cord - with the attendant need to have the cord curled up and out of the way when the device is not in use.
